Hi my name is Connie Ahsee, I'm a Wiradjuri woman from Wellington in New South Wales. I'm going to talk a bit about Aboriginal language and why it's so important from an Aboriginal person's point of view, is that I can't speak my language. One of the reasons is that my Nan when she was little, growing up on the mission out at Wellington was that they were never allowed to speak language so she never ever passed it on to us. So my main focus now is Aboriginal languages and the revival of it in New South Wales. I currently look after 23 schools that are teaching language across New South Wales, of that we have about seven languages that are being taught at the moment from preschool right through to Year 12.
