Cec' Rigney, I'm a Raulkan Ngarrindjeri, I'm now working at the Berri TAFE. Through working with the kids, they get an understanding that Aboriginal people aren't all bad because in my books kids aren't born prejudiced - they're taught it, or racist - they're taught it. They hear people or elder people and their parents sitting around the table talking and running Aboriginal people down and they naturally think that that's the way Aboriginal people are. I think it's a bit too late to educate the parents or the older people but doing this sort of work with the kids, I think it will gradually turn around because these kids are our future and they will grow up and I'm sure their kids won't be as prejudiced as their parents were.
