Study Modes
Structured, supported & flexible options for mature learners.
At ITAC, we offer flexible study options tailored for adult learners. Our experienced trainers across Australia provide local support, with 24/7 access to resources and regular virtual catch-ups.
We offer three main study modes:
Let's explore each of these modes below:
In today's fast-paced world, online learning has become the most common method of study, thanks largely to the unparalleled flexibility it offers. At ITAC, we've crafted our online courses to be as accommodating as possible, giving you the freedom to study on your terms—whether that's in short sporadic bursts or a consistent weekly routine. Study when you want, as often as you want.
Our online curriculum, rooted in the principles of adult learning, is meticulously designed by seasoned educational experts. This design approach ensures a learning experience that is both accessible and captivating. Further enhancing this experience are our interactive e-learning modules, which are engineered to be not only enjoyable but also contextual and visually engaging. This multifaceted design reduces learner frustration and streamlines the educational process, making it both straightforward and efficient. Additionally, if reading isn't your preferred learning style, our audiobook options allow you to absorb the material while you're on the go, such as walking the dog or waiting for a bus.
While the course is structured to guide you through a defined learning pathway, it's self-paced, allowing you to progress at a speed that suits your schedule and commitments. Whether you choose to work through the curriculum quickly or take your time, you can count on friendly support from ITAC's seasoned trainers, all of whom have extensive experience.
Experienced Learner Mode is a flexible study mode for a small number of education support students who already have substantial, current sector experience.
It bridges the gap between RPL and the standard course. RPL is an assessment-only process with no training. The standard course provides the full learning sequence, resources and support. Experienced Learner Mode sits between these options by allowing suitable students to move quickly through familiar areas, while still accessing learning materials, trainer support and extra guidance where gaps exist.
The mode is based on a 16-week study structure, but it is not a fixed-duration short course. Completion time varies depending on the student’s experience, workplace evidence, placement progress, study time and support needs. Students also receive the full 12-month enrolment period, giving them flexibility if work, family or other commitments affect their progress.
This mode may suit students who have significant experience in education support or a closely related school-based role, can work independently through familiar content, and are likely to succeed with a more flexible and targeted level of support.
Students complete the same course requirements as other students, including required assessments and any practical placement or workplace evidence requirements. The difference is the pace: students move quickly through areas they already understand and take more time where they need to refresh, practise or fill knowledge gaps.

Balancing a traditional classroom experience with today's busy schedules, ITAC offers a class-based mode that requires just one day per week. Designed as interactive workshops, these classes introduce key concepts, leaving in-depth learning and consolidation for your own time – much like our online mode.
Currently, this mode is available exclusively in Western Australia and comes at no additional cost. Due to high demand, classes tend to fill up rapidly, so we recommend early enrolment.
Class-based mode is ideal for those who value the social interactions that come with a classroom setting, whether that's with trainers or fellow students. Classes are timed to accommodate family routines, allowing for convenient pick-up and drop-off of children at school. This mode is particularly recommended for students who might benefit from more structured learning, such as those who are improving their English skills or who are younger and require additional guidance.

To sum up, ITAC offers three main study modes to suit varied learning preferences and lifestyles: Online, class-Based and accelerated mode. All three are structured, supported, and self-paced, with 24/7 access to essential resources. Online mode provides ultimate flexibility, ideal for those juggling multiple commitments. Class-Based mode offers the unique benefit of weekly in-person workshops. Accelerated mode helps mature adults leverage a lifetime of learning to move into the workforce sooner.
